Cordoba

1 week

We went with Gustavo and Tammy to Argentina. Gus was one of Jason's companions from the mission. Gus is from Cordoba but now lives in Utah. His wife was meeting the family for the first time.

Here we are at the bus station. We took buses everywhere because it would only cost $40 for a 9 hour trip.

This is the family we stayed with. Gustavo's Aunt Olga and Uncle Jose Luis and their 2 children Florencia and Daniel. They were so nice, Olga definitely took care of me. Only Daniel knew English so he had to listen to me a lot.
FELIZ PASCUA! translation a Happy Easter that comes with insane BBQ and chocolate eggs with surprises in them. This is a part of Gustavo's family.

This is Carlos Paz. One of the prettiest cities in central Argentina which is on a lake. Daniel was so sweet and drove us around on his days off.

The Rally.... I don't even know where to begin. This picture sums up the cold, muddy day that we along with 1,000's of others walked miles to watch cars race through the mountains. We spent the night in a car to beat all the traffic. It was pretty cool to see the cars go by. People come from all over the world to watch and participate.

Having some fun at the Park. P.S. I would never let my child on this dangerous teeter totter, it totally freaked me out!

While we were there the grocery stores didn't have any meat or produce due to a strike the farmers conducted. The Argentine president taxes them 51% of everything they export and obviously they didn't like it. The farmers all got together and blocked the major roads with their tractors so no one could get in or out of the cities. This caused the food sitting in the delivery trucks to go bad, which was really sad. Pretty crazy stuff!

I think this must be some brilliant south american idea! Bolivians seem to think that the cure all for all of lifes problems includes blockades and strikes, and maybe a few mobs throwing rocks for good measure! Lol... Hmmm... maybe I will try that next time I want to get out of work :)
